RENDELSHAM cricketers are in celebration mode after claiming the Millicent/Naracoorte association grand final on the weekend.

In tricky conditions, Millicent won the toss and chose to bat, with a low-scoring contest ensuing.

Millicent was bowled out for just 74 runs after 30 overs, which left a seemingly comfortable run chase for Rendelsham.

Jaxon Cushion top scored for Millicent with 16 runs, while Cooper Hamilton (11) also reached double figures but few others could find runs.

Tight bowling from Rendelsham’s Max Telfer (3/6), Tyson Smith (3/16), Dylan Clough (2/6) and Jacob Carger (2/24) ensured a low target for victory.

However, that low total was not easily reached, with the conditions providing a tight contest.

Rendelsham lost seven wickets on their way to victory, with Smith (16) Jake Wight (15), Clough (13) and Zac Jones (11) reaching double figures.

Again some tight bowling in the conditions kept the game in the balance, with Mike Gibson (3/7) and Jacob Todd (2/24) the best of the Millicent attack.

In the end Rendelsham reached the target in the 30th over and the celebrations began.

Smith was awarded man of the match for his efforts with bat and ball.

Season trophies were handed out, with cricketer of year going to Millicent’s Sam Hunt, along with the bowling honours, batting to Rendelsham’s Zac Jones and most catches and stumpings to Mitchell Nitschke.
