MCNAMARA Park provided ongoing entertainment for motorcycle fans across the Limestone Coast on the weekend, with the running of the annual Classic Master of Mac Park by the Mount Gambier Motorcycle Club.

A wide variety of old machinery was on display on track, with a large contingent competing in the Laurie Fox Memorial Sidecar features.

The popular category pays tribute to the late Laurie Fox, who was well known in motor racing circles in the region, along with his unique ability to set fields for handicap racing, specifically the sidecar events.

The Period 5 and F2 sidecars feature went to the team of Stephen Jones and Tyler Harris with their 600cc Suzuki in a tight finish.

The pair crossed the line just half a second ahead of Stuart and Brad Gorrie, with David Jones and Rebecca Boggiano third some five seconds in arrears.

Likewise, the Period 3, 4 and 5, plus Trials sidecar feature was well contested, although the winning team of Geoff Grant and James Large on a 750cc Kawasaki were well clear at the chequered flag, with Max Hooper and Brad Gorrie on a 1100cc Suzuki crossing the line some 18 seconds behind.

A 650cc Wasp rounded out the podium, with Tony Shanks and Jason Whitefield aboard.

In other feature races, John Ryan claimed the Class C, Period 2, All 125cc race, while in the Period 6, Robert Ruwoldt claimed the win on his 750cc Kawasaki.

The Period 5 feature went to Lachlan Hill on a 350cc Yamaha, while Christian Carlson claimed Period 4 on his 500cc Suzuki and Darrren Trotter won Period 3 on a 650cc Matchless.

Across the weekend points were amassed for each leg on each category, with a popular win in Period 6 500cc class going to club stalwart Mike Engberg.
