JUST one team represented the Robe Bowling Club in last week’s Pennant competition, with the Division 2 women traveling to the Mount Gambier to club to play under the roof – a first for many of the players.

While they certainly enjoyed playing in the controlled conditions, they could not manage the win in a competitive outing.

Mount Gambier won the day, 45 shots 6 points to Robe’s 39-2.

Judy Phillips, Pam Robinson, Jan Fisk and Judy Bermingham were defeated by Beryl Versluis’ team 26-17, while Lorraine Dening, Tracey Gray, Bronwyn Matthews and Valma Jennings claimed a win over Jane Calleja’s team 22-19.

the Division 2 women now sit third on the ladder.

Because there was no Saturday Pennant competition, 17 members turned up for social bowls, sponsored by Sky Seafoods.

There were three two-game winners, with Dean Burgouyne and Pam Robinson claiming the overall honours with 55 points.

Mark Murphy and Rob Hooper finished runners-up on 53 points, just one point ahead of Rob Lawrie and Peter DeLaine.

There is no women’s Pennant Friday, while Division 1 and 3 Open teams play at home on Saturday.

The first round of the Super Series will be held at Robe on Thursday, February 17 starting at 6pm.
