DRILLED: Alex Ridding looks to score.

BASEBALL returned on the weekend after an interruption due to damage incurred by corellas out at Blue Lake Sports Park.

The main diamond had suffered much damage but diamond two was used for one of the Division 1 matches instead.

The field certainly turned it on in the first Division 1 game it had seen for more than 10 years, as Centrals and South went head-to-head in a nail-biter.

Centrals started the game with a number of players missing, including stars Dylan Chuck and Kyall McLean, which provided South with an opportunity to break Centrals winning streak.

South key players Dean Hamilton, Bruce Morale and Damien O’Dine were all at their best again and an upset was on the cards.

The result was 10-10 in the ninth inning and South could smell a victory but it was not to be.

It was heart break for the Indians when Centrals got their nose back in front by a single margin to claim an entertaining contest 11-10.

It was a big performance from Nathan Meinck with a couple hits, a solid pitching effort and the win to keep centrals undefeated on top of the ladder.

Meanwhile Millicent hosted a hungry Tigers outfit looking to kick start the second half of the year with a bang.

Millicent/Federals’ start set the scene for what was a long day at the office.

Errors, pass balls and dropped catches in the first innings saw Tigers score seven runs and all-but shut the gate on the home side.

Another seven runs over the next two innings saw 14-0 scoreline, with one chance left for Millicent to gain some respect.

They managed to get three runs over the plate but it was all too late and the game was called.

Jesse Foster was impressive with three safe hits in the 14-3 victory.
