IN a tightly contested final, Lyn Scudds claimed the Millicent Bowls Club’s Championship Singles title against a gallant Ros Varcoe last week.

The format saw the first player to reach 21 shots up win through the minor rounds, with the grand final to 25 shots up.

Varcoe defeated Andrea Radley to book her grand final berth, while Scudds accounted for Sarah Ross to advance.

The grand final was played the following day and at the ninth end Scudds held a tentative 10-7 advantage.

The margin had not changed by the 25th end, as Scudds still held a small lead 21-18.

It took until the 27th end when Scudds was finally able to seal the title as she reached the desired 25-shot target for victory.
