Robe bowls keeps the pace

LAST week’s social bowls at the Robe Bowls Club attracted 23 players for the ROBE Mitre 10 sponsored event.

The format included two games of 12 ends, with two two-game game winners.

Pat Lynch and Paul Truelove claimed the honours with 57 points, ahead of Stephen Kennett and Trevor Wagner on 56.

The women’s Pennants were played at Robe and both Division 2 and 3 won all rinks.

In Division 2 Robe defeated Port MacDonnell 64 shots 8 points to 30-0.

Judy Phillips, Josh Waddell, Helen Dawson and Judy Bermingham defeated Cheryl Doddridge’s team 38-15.

Kerrie Boyd, Helen Lynch, Bronwyn Matthews and Valma Jennings defeated Marilyn Sutton’s team 26-15.

In Division 3 Robe defeated Naracoorte 54-8 to 34-0.

Maria Cooper, Nola Peel, Tracey Gray and Ann Moore defeated Mary Kirkland’s team 27-20.

Robyn Dahler, Clare DeLaine, Pam Robinson and Jan Fisk defeated Colleen Fox’s team 27-14.

Saturday’s Open Pennant saw both Division 1 and 3 played in Millicent with mixed results.

In Division 1 Millicent was defeated by Robe 68-2 to 78-10.

Peter Roachock’s team was defeated by John Scudds’ team 29-22.

Pat Lynch, Peter DeLaine, Dean Burgoyne and David Robinson defeated Wayne Ross’s team 17-32, while Stephen Kennett, Glenn Wright, Peter Gregory and Harold Manton defeated Bryon Roper’s team 27-28.

In Division 3 Millicent Red defeated Robe 103-10 to 60-2.

Neil Whelan’s team defeated Ali Douglas’s team 33-15, Peter Varcoe’s team defeated Dean Woodwards team 43-17 and Paul Truelove, Bill Cook, Mark Murphy as well as Dean Nankivell defeated Glen Tilley’s team 27-28.

Championships will be played in the new year, starting with the men’s and women’s Fours on January 2.
