THE hot scoring continued on Tuesday at the Blue Lake Golf Club, this time in the mid-week stableford competition which attracted close to 50 players.

The hottest of them all, and in recent good form, was Curtis Coppetti who took home 43 points and first place.

It was a mixed bag to start with for Coppetti, starting with a handy three-point par but then making a mess of the second for no points.

This set the scene for his front nine, either scoring very well with four points on the third and eighth holes or scrambling just to get a solitary point with double-bogeys.

Turning with 21 points over the outward nine he quickly added three more thanks to a par on the 10th hole.

His back nine was a lot more consistent and he steadily added to his points tally, even a bogey five on the 13th hole earning him three points.

His 43 points saw him a clear winner from a trio on 40.

In second place after a three-way count-back was Brenton Speck who finished strongly with three pars over the last four holes for 11 of his 22 points over the back nine.

A strong finish saw him victorious over David Lock who signed for 40 points.

While he could not quite match Speck’s finish, he still accumulated enough points to see off another veteran member in Doug McPherson who did all his good scoring on the front nine.

Leading the list of ball winners was head greenkeeper Daniel Christian, recently achieving the holy grail of golf by reaching a scratch handicap, who might even find himself playing off even less thanks to his 37 points on Tuesday.

Just the one bogey on the par 3 fifth hole saw him turn with 17 points.

Another bogey on the par 3 14th hole nearly had him falling behind his handicap, but with his ability to go over the top of the trees on the dogleg 15th saw him make his eagle putt and a handy four points.

A birdie on the 17th with three points put him back on track for one-under score.

Others to take home a ball prize included McPherson, Steve Jelly, Lynn Annand, Graham Burke, Tony Steen, Ian Bown and Chris Hoggan.
