MIL Lel claimed its first win of the Barber Shield season with a strong victory over East Gambier at Frew Park.

Chasing 235 for victory, East was never really in the hunt, with the first wicket of Connor Little falling at just 14 runs.

Little made just two of those runs, while fellow opener Leigh Von Duve was out just five runs later for 14.

James Sullivan hung around for a steady knock while the wickets tumbled around him.

Emerson Marks went for just six runs, followed by a pair of ducks to Steven Cameron and Dion Stratford.

Alex Hentschke could only offer four runs to the total but a saving grace came in the form of Travis Younghusband, who threw caution to the wind and found some much-needed runs.

His 78 came off just 92 deliveries and was a shining light for the Bulldogs.

However, the team total only reached 148 before Mil Lel was back at the crease with a comfortable first-innings victory in hand.

Logan Gibbs did much of the damage with the ball, with figures of 6/27 off 22 overs.
