PORT MacDonnell Bowls Club’s Tuesday social bowls saw reduced numbers due to the Melbourne Cup, with two games played in warm conditions.

The team of Rod Sutton and Alan Hill was the only two-game winner.

In the mid-week Pennants’ “Battle of the Seaside”, Red proved too strong for Blue to claim bragging rights.

Port MacDonnell Blue 36 shots 0 points l/t Port MacDonnell Red 60 shots 8 points.

Joe Pruis, Bill McGregor, Lance Fisher and Danny Gaut lost 17-32 , while Michael Glynn, Nallia Lucas, Barrie Schmidt and Carol Schmidt lost19-28.

Terry Seiler, Keith Dowdell, Heather Richards and Bill Richards won 28-19, while Lorraine Mackereth, Jan Dowdell, Kevin Henderson and Robert Hutchesson won 32-17.

Friday’s Division 1 side lost to Penola – Port MacDonnell 42 shots 2 points lost to Penola 55 shots 6 points at Penola.

Lyn Vanderley, Marilyn Sutton, Jan Dowdell and Judith Grosvenor lost 17-36, while Lorraine Mackereth, Roma Henderson, Carol Schmidt and Heather Richards won 25-19.

In Division 2, Port MacDonnell 46 shots 2 points lost to Beachport Blue 49 shots 6 points at Beachport.

Suzanne Connell, Shirley Taylor, Jennie Tilley and Cheryl Doddridge won 31-16, while Lyn Jones, Heather Fox, Nallia Lucas and Elain Pruis lost 15-33.

Saturday Open Pennants saw the Division 1 Bay side go down to Mount Gambier RSL Red.

Port MacDonnell 64 shots 4 points lost to Mount Gambier RSL Red 79 shots 8 points at Mount Gambier RSL.

Paul Weir, Robert Hutchesson, Wayne Dowdell and Tim Wrightson won 27-23, Barrie Schmidt, Keith Dowdell, Heather Richards and Bill Richards won 26-23, while Greg Fisher, Lance Fisher, Judith Grosvenor and Chris Richards lost 11-34.

In Division 3, Port MacDonnell 63 shots 2 points lost to Frances 70 shots 10 points.

Bruce Bain, Don Forbes, Danny Gaut and Terry Seiler lost 22-28, Jim Williams, Victor Perryman, Jennie Tilley and Kel Butler lost 18-25, while John Naismith, Chris Negline, Kevin Osman and Kevin Henderson won 23-17.

In Division 4, Port MacDonnell 40 shots 0 points lost to Millicent Red 88 shots 12 points at Millicent.

Suzanne Connell, Darryl Sims, Marilyn Sutton and Bill McGregor lost 12-33, Ben Tilley, Kevin Norman, Rod Sutton and Justin Brown lost12-32, while Michael Glynn, Graham Hutchesson, Terry Stone and Cheryl Doddridge lost 16-23.

the Port MacDonnell club will hold its Championship Mixed Pairs on November 14 sponsored by Carol and Barrie Schmidt.

Sunday, November 28 will see the Ladies Veteran’s Singles, Rae Perryman Memorial, the Men’s Veteran’s Singles and Barry Praetz Memorial.
