Hot competition in cool conditions

TRIPLES: Runners-up Jan Buhlmann, Judy Lowe and Faye Hill , with winners Lyn Scudds, Mary Campbell and Carlene Godden.

COLD and windy conditions greeted 24 women in eighth teams of triples for the Millicent Bowls Club Triples Championship on Sunday.

The format saw 15 ends of two-bowl triples played, with the preliminary between the teams of Sarah Ross/Andrea Radley/Elaine Goode up against Jan Buhlmann/Faye Hill/Judy Lowe.

Buhlmann, Hill and Lowe claimed the win by just two shots to advance to the grand final.

In the other preliminary final Del Parsons, Mary Clifford and Adriana Ross faced Lyn Scudds, Mary Campbell and Carlene Godden.

Another close game ensued, with Scudds, Campbell and Godden claiming the win by six shots.

The grand final was played over 18 ends and by the seventh Scudds’s team was up by 10 shots.

Buhlmann’s side started to fight back and by the 17th end the Scudd’s side was still up, but by just by three shots.

Scudd’s side went on to win the last end and become triples champions for the 2021-22 season.
