De Wit back for another season

ANOTHER TILT: Kane De Wit has singed on for the Pioneers men for the 2022 NBL1 South Basketball season.

THE Castec Rural Pioneers continue to build their list in the NBL1 South off-season, with former Mount Gambier Lakers junior Kane De Wit the latest to re-sign for 2022.

De Wit was a national championship player with the Pioneers in 2015 and 2017 before playing for the Forestville Eagles in the Adelaide Premier League in 2019 and 2020.

In his first season back with the Pioneers in 2021, De Wit had a solid all-round performance averaging 6.23 points per game, a field goal percentage of 36.36 per cent, 5.384 assists per game and 5.23 rebounds.

Head coach Richard Hill said it was fantastic De Wit has signed with the Pioneers for another season.

“I’m excited to have Kane returning,” he said.

“He is a key component for future Pioneer success.

“He is a floor leader who is strong at both ends of the court.

“Whilst Kane led our team in steals and assists and was our best perimeter defender, I believe there is still much room for improvement in his game,”

The Castec Rural Pioneers and the OneFortyOne Pioneers will commence their 2022 NBL1 South campaigns in April 2022.
