FINALS berths have been decided in the Veolia Limestone Coast Women’s Football League, with the semi-final on Sunday at McLaughlin Park producing some interesting contests.

North Gambier saved its best for last, with a stirring 49-point win over Millicent.

The Tigers could do little wrong, with 17 points in the opening term while holding the Saints scoreless.

Only Millicent scored in the second quarter, with just one behind on the board, but it was the only time the Saints would bother the scorers.

North continued to pile on the hurt in the third term, then finished off in style with four last-quarter goals to ice the game.

Chloe Perryman and Lorrelle Walker scored two goals each in the 7.8 (50) to 0.1 (1) victory.

Next up Mundulla and Casterton Sandford played out a classic contest, with just seven points in the game at full time in the Cats’ favour.

Mundulla was out of the blocks quick with a 16-point first term while holding the Cats scoreless.

That changed in the second when the Cats banged on three goals and one behind to trail by just three points.

Scores were then even at the final change to set up an entertaining end.

The Cats managed to find the big sticks on one occasion in the final stanza, while Mundulla was held goal-less, with the former running out 5.6 (36) to 4.5 (29) victors.

Scarlett Jarrad (3) and Kate Tomkins (2) were the goal kickers for the Cats, while Kellsie Turner and Natasha Horne kicked two each for Mundulla.

Penola and Kybybolite also played out a tough contest, with the latter claiming the honours, but not without a fight.

Scores were tight up to the main break, with just eight points separating the two sides.

Kyby kicked away in the third with two majors, while holding Penola to just one behind and create a handy 20-point advantage heading into the final stanza.

Penola fought back late with a major score and held Kyby scoreless but could not close the margin, with the final scoreline 4.4 (28) to 2.4 (16).

Dellie Brown kicked two majors for the victors, while Aidene Parr kicked two for Penola.

In the final game Kalangadoo was no match for a rampant South Gambier.

The Demons tuned up for the grand final this weekend, with a stinging 13.16 (94) to 0.1 (1) victory.

Jasmine White topped the goal kicking list with four, Kendell Saffin kicked three and Simone McDonald two.

This Sunday sees a culmination of a season of hard work as South and Kyby battle for overall honours.

Kalangadoo and Penola will set the scene with third place on the line before the main hit out.

South remained undefeated for the season, which included a 53-point win over Kyby back in Round 2.

Kyby has kicked some impressive scores along the way, but whether the offensive play can stand up to the Demons defence in a grand final situation remains to be seen.

Either way, it will certainly cap off an entertaining season of women’s football.
