DEFLATED: Football in the Limestone Coast has been deflated after the South Australian National Football League "strongly recommended" competitions be postponed until May 31.

MUNDULLA 13.14 (92) d KALANGADOO 5.3 (33)

MUNDULLA left no doubt about its intentions in the Limestone Coast Football League, with a stinging 59-point victory over Kalangadoo on Saturday.

It was the first clash of the reigning premiers, with the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara champions far too good for their Mid South Eastern counterpart.

The game was set up early with four major scores in the opening term, while the Magpies could only manage a solitary behind.

That dominance continued throughout the contest, with Kalangadoo unable to match the Moots on their home turf.

A large crowd headed in to see the long-awaited contest in the newly-formed league and the home fans would not have been disappointed.

However, the final result did not reflect the intent shown by Kalangadoo, as the Magpies forced the home side to work hard for possession.

But Mundulla simply made better use of its time up forward to ensure it remained in front from the outset.

The wind predominantly blew across the ground and Mundulla used its home ground to advantage, with seven first-half goals.

Kalangadoo then came out after the long break and showed a bit more intent, dominating field position, but again unable to capitalise in front of the big sticks.

By the final break the scoreline read 11-8 (74) to 3-3 (21) and the Magpies were out of contention.

However, that did not stop the visitors from running the game out, as they matched Mundulla with major scores in the final stanza – both with two each – but the home side had six extra shots on goal.

The final score of 13-14 (92) to 5-3 (33) showed the strength of the KNTFL champions.

For the victors Harry Dowling kicked three goals, while a further 10 players added singles.

Ben Mules topped the score sheet for Kalangadoo with two goals, while Mitch Lowe, Tye McManus and Ethan Maney added one each.

Best for the Moots were Jake McGrice, Sam Luckett, Nicholas Mosey, Nicholas Gregurke, Dylan Mosey and Dowling.

Sam Mcmanus, Thomas Williams, Bradley Bryant, Justin Mansell, Lowe and Jonathan Mules claimed the votes for Kalangadoo.

Mundulla officials suggested the current side is actually better than the 2019 premiership-winning team, which would ring alarm bells for the remainder of the competition.

That will provide a real challenge for the Western Border premier North Gambier when the two sides meet in round three, also at the home of the Moots.
