AS the World Series Sprintcars season draws to a close, one Limestone Coast team finds itself in a battle to hold onto an overall podium position.

Scott Motorsport driver Brooke Tatnell currently holds down third place, 538 points behind leader James McFadden and 522 from Kerry Madsen in second.

However, Jack Goodyer is 65 points behind Tatnell, with Lucas Wolfe just 126 points in arrears.

Mathematically Tatnell is not out of the outright equation, but it would take nothing short of a miracle to advance further up the leaderboard.

A consistent performance throughout the season has ensured Tatnell is at the pointy end of and with his season on the line, his efforts last weekend in Western Australia were impressive, with a second place in round 11 at Esperance, followed by a fourth in round 12 at Bunbury.

Those results kept Tatnell in the running for a top-three finish to the season, with just two rounds now remaining, both at the Perth Motorplex, tonight and Saturday.

As in recent seasons it appears it will come down to the grand final on Saturday night to decide the 2019-20 WSS champion.

Mount Gambier’s Glen Sutherland has not enjoyed a fruitful season, now down in 11th place, while Steven Lines has only competed in four rounds.

Lines was not a contracted driver this season, but that was also the case last season when he stormed to victory on the final corner of the last round to claim the overall honours.

It is likely to be a similar situation in the final rounds of racing this weekend, with the top three still in the race.

However the weekend pans out, it has been an entertaining season and again comes down to the final rounds before a result can be claimed.
