FOOTBALL heads to Blue Lake Sports Park on Sunday, with all five games in round nine of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League 2019-20 season to be played at the Mount Gambier venue.

The day kicks off at 10.30am with what should be an interesting contest, as Casterton Sandford takes on Glencoe.

The Cats sit fourth on the ladder, while Glencoe is down in eighth place, but the Murphies have lost just one more game for the season.

Glencoe has struggled with the top three teams, with big losses to Kybybolite and South Gambier, plus a 30-point loss to Mundulla.

The Cats provided a more even contest against those sides, but were still defeated convincingly.

With few opportunities left to claim a finals spot, the Murphies will come out firing.

Donna Jaeschke, Sarah Edwards and Alice Tentye have been in good form for Glencoe, but will need to lift to another level if they are to claim the win.

North Gambier will look for its second win of the season when it faces Kalangadoo.

The Tigers have struggled and are still to face Kybybolite and Mundulla.

The Magpies need another victory, with just two to their name this season.

Look for a big effort from Magpie Emmason Ilsley and Tiger Lorrelle Walker in front of goals for their respective sides.

Kongorong faces an uphill battle against top-of-the-table Kybybolite.

In their first season in the competition, the Hawks have played out a couple of tight contests, but are yet to record a victory.

With the likes of Della Hannaford leading to the goal kicking with 14 majors, plus Holly Hannaford with 12, Kybybolite is a flag favourite and will not let this one slip away.

Millicent has enjoyed a reasonable season, with a 3/3 win/loss ratio.

But this week they face the powerhouse Mundulla in what will be a tough day at the office.

The Saints do have a couple of goal kickers in Courtney Pond and Madi Thwaites, but it will take a huge effort to slow down Mundulla.

The latter sits in third place on the ladder behind Kybybolite and South and is sure to cement that position on Sunday with a big win.

The final game kicks off at 3.30pm and sees Penola enter the contest on a hot streak of three straight victories.

Those wins came against Kongorong, Glencoe and North, but this week the Eagles face South, one of only two sides undefeated this season.

It is hard to mount a case for Penola, with the firepower of the Demons in front of goals devastating at times.

Neave Delaney is equal at the top of the goal kicking list with 14 majors, Simone MacDonald has 13 and Kendell Saffin 12.

Tess Andrews provides plenty of run, while the likes of Emma MacDonald, Chelsea Frost and Claudia Edmonds are regular top performers for the Demons.

South should run away with this one on home soil and march on towards the finals.
