THE Mount Gambier Lakers men head to Ararat this weekend for round four of the Country Basketball League 2019/20 season.

It is only the Lakers second game in the disrupted season, but likewise, the Redbacks have only competed once.

Subsequently ladder positions can not be taken into consideration.

The Lakers opened their season with a stinging 118-53 defeat of the Stawell Wildcats at the Icehouse in round two, dominating from the outset, despite not having their usual roster.

Simon Berkefeld was impressive with 33 points, while Kyle Tipene added 27.

Mitch Hunter, Jak Ryan and Toby deWit all reached double figures and stamped their authority on the contest.

Ararat opened its season in round one with a four-point victory over Millicent Magic.

It was a more even contest, but two Redbacks stood out on the scoreboard.

DJ Woods was impressive with 30 points, while Josh Fiegert contributed 28.

Jason Cameron completed the list of double-figure scorers with 13, while few others had any impact on the scoreboard.

Considering the strength of the Lakers, the Redbacks will need to find something special to be able to compete, even with the home court advantage.

Coach Matt Berkefeld is sure to have his charges ready for another solid hitout and the side should return victorious.

The Lakers will then host the Redbacks the following week at the Icehouse, with the chance for either team to claim redemption.
