WHILE everyone loves the chance to attend a game of League football, country footy certainly has quirks of its own.

That was seen last weekend at McDonald Park when East Gambier hosted top-of-the-table West Gambier in round 11 of Western Border football.

One advantage over the big leagues is the opportunity to drive your own car into the ground and choose the best spot to watch the game.

As can be seen in the well-timed Frank Monger photo, a small group of supporters did just that.

They were observed by this writer cruising slowly around the ground looking for the ideal position and once that was decided upon, backed the car in, opened the tailgate and set themselves up.

Armed with hand-made signs, they made their presence felt and were not shy to voice their opinions of the players targeted.

Roos’ ruckman Todd Lewis – pictured about to kick the ball – was one of those players, while team mates Ben Papps and Michael Minuzzo were also in the firing line.

The facts were, the three supporters had made their way down from Adelaide – where the trio of Roos had formerly played – to watch their mates play and made sure the players knew they were in attendance.

You just have to love country footy!
