THIS week’s K&S Fuels Player of the Week award comes from what panned out to be the match of the round.

It was not meant to be that way, but Millicent certainly took the challenge of West Gambier with both hands and pushed the Roos until the final siren.

It was a typical game for the Roos stars, including Lawry Bradley-Brown who once again racked up the possessions.

His influence has certainly helped West to its 4/1 win/loss ratio this season.

The Roos controlled the early part of the game, but the Saints then began to close the margin.

They claimed the lead in the final stanza off a Peter Duncan goal.

Duncan kicked three for the game on a day where clean possession was tough for forwards.

That showed in the West camp, where nine players contributed to the final 12 Roos goals.

Jordan Williams, Josh Schapel and Jett Attard all contributed two goals each, with the remainder coming in singles.

It was that accuracy of the Roos which won the contest, after the Saints had 20 attempts at the big sticks to West’s 17.

But individually the Saints fared reasonably well, with just four players contributing the 10 major scores.

Sam Willis and Kade Bradley added singles to Duncan’s three, but it was Mitchell Rielly who threatened to break the game apart.

On a day where the slippery Sherrin was hard to control, Reilly managed five goals to keep the Saints within a sniff of victory.

In the end it was not enough, but his efforts were certainly worthy of this week’s award.
