WESTERN Border football sees the rematch from round one tomorrow, with Millicent travelling to Vansittart Park to face North Gambier.

The Saints will look to reverse the round-one result which saw the Tigers claim the honours by a 64-point margin.

Millicent is yet to record a victory this season, despite some competitive quarters of football.

Last week saw a gutsy effort against West Gambier, where the Saints took the lead in the final term, but were unable to hold on and went down by a slim seven-points.

They will need every bit of effort this week if they are to overcome the resurgent Tigers.

North is having its best season for a couple of years, under the tutelage of coach Justin McConnell.

In the opening round McConnell kicked eight goals to announce his return to the league.

He has gone on from there and currently leads the goalkicking with 24 majors.

However, the Saints would be buoyed by the fact he has been limited somewhat in recent weeks.

He kicked two goals against the Roos in round four and only managed one last round against Casterton Sandford.

However, against the Cats the Tigers were still able to record 19 major scores, with the returning Matt McInerney banging on seven in his first game for the season.

McInerney was joined by another eight Tigers on the scoreboard, which would be a concern for Saints coach Lyndon Smith.

Smith has faced a tough season in his first year at the helm as he looks to defend the club’s 2018 premiership.

An exodus of players has certainly not helped his cause.

However, last week he would have taken solace from the performance of Mitchell Reilly in front of goals.

Reilly banged on five goals, while big forward Peter Duncan contributed three.

Sam Willis is certainly capable of finding the big sticks as well and will need to push hard this week.

Jonah Grimes will have a big job against Brett Kennedy in the ruck, but should be up to the challenge.

His influence on the contest could be pivotal in providing Millicent with first use of the Sherrin out of the centre and around the ground.

Steve Duldig will have a big job to rally the troops in the back half and try to limit the Tigers forward entries.

If McInerney lines up again, it will simply add to the many avenues for North to hit the scoreboard.

The weather may have played into Millicent’s hands last week against the Roos, limiting their fast inside-50 forays.

Smith would surely hope for more of the same this week, but at this stage it appears the skies may be clearer.

Either way it will be a tough day for the Saints and the Tigers should claim a comfortable win.
