A GRADE

PENOLA 80 d KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 29

THE Penola Eagles A Grade netball team flew past Kaniva Leeor United with a huge win in round five of Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara netball on Saturday.

The Eagles were in complete control from the first whistle and moved the ball with precision, which proved too much for the opposition to lead 22-6 at quarter time.

Penola’s defence continued to dictate terms in the second term with regular intercepts and turnovers.

The Winter sisters were the benefit of some changes made at half time, with Georgia and Alana in the goal-attack and goal-keeper positions respectively.

Gorgia Robbie applied pressure all day to win best-on-court honours, while April Possingham excelled to score a huge 63 goals in her first full game, to lead the Eagles to a 80-29 victory.

A RESERVE

PENOLA 76 d KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 31

IT was another solid win from the A Reserve Penola outfit, this time a 45-goal victory against Kaniva Leeor United.

The Eagles hit the court with a new look forward line this week, which performed well and was backed up by defensive pressure to be up by a 15-goal margin at the first break.

Penola continued to build its lead each quarter to win 75-31.

Best players were Indi Venables in the centre and Chloe Long in defence.

B GRADE

PENOLA 73 d KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 18

A DETERMINED Penola B Grade unit hit the ground running to register a comfortable 55-goal win over Kaniva Leeor United.

Tayla McKeon and Teegan Galpin started in goals and built a formidable advantage during the first half of the game.

Amelia Redman, Hannah Klemm and Karmel Finch created numerous turnovers through the centre of the court in support of the drive out of defence from Annabel Hayes and Mandy Gartner.

At half time Amanda Wurst and Nicole Hayes were introduced and continued the run to the finish as the Eagles saw an opportunity to experiment with different combinations.

McKeon and Finch were named as the best players.

C GRADE

KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 34 d PENOLA 27

THE Penola Eagles went down to Kaniva Leeor United in an even contest for C Grade honours.

The game started off as a tight affair and remained so throughout the whole game, with the similar skill levels of both line ups creating a tight back-and-forth game.

A couple execution errors proved costly for the Eagles, while some accurate shooting by the opposition saw a seven-goal defeat.

Laura Price and Tammie Berkin were the top performers on the day.

UNDER 17

KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 50 d PENOLA 34

THE young Penola began its Under 17 contest against Kaniva Leeor United with the expectation of a tough contest, which did eventuate on the weekend.

The opening quarter was a challenge for the Eagles with multiple turnovers, but Ruby Moore and Shakayla Summerhayes provided plenty of movement in the goal ring to create opportunities to score.

Abbie Gartner stepped up in the second quarter to keep Penola in the game, while Jess Snell and Kate Skeer supported with drive through the mid-court.

Gartner and Kasey Morton were named best players in the loss after the duo snatched many turn overs and moved the ball seamlessly down the court.

UNDER 16

KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 39 d PENOLA 22

THE Penola Eagles fought hard in a 17-goal loss to Kaniva Leeor United.

The Eagles made a strong start in the opening term to level the scores at the first break, but some unforced errors saw the opposition take the lead at half time.

Penola came out firing to win the third quarter on the scoreboard, but it was not enough to prevent the defeat.

Ellise Berkin worked hard the entire game to score the best-player award followed by Harmoniee Smith.

UNDER 15

KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 39 d PENOLA 18

A SLOW start cost the Penola Under 15 side dearly to lose by 21 goals to Kaniva Leeor United.

A strong defensive effort led by Amelia Henry and Lucy Caitlin saw a fightback, but it was not enough to prevent the loss.

Bella Minge’s impressive shooting on return from tonsillitis saw her named as best player ahead of Henry.

UNDER 13A

PENOLA 42 d KANIVA LEEOR UNITED 14

A SOLID performance from Penola saw a comfortable win for the Eagles over Kaniva Leeor United.

Penola started strong in the first quarter with great passages of play to gain a break in the opening stages.

A second quarter Kaniva Leeor United fightback evened the scores, but Rosie and Heidi worked well together, while the Eagles restricted the opposition to just two goals in the final term.

Amber Morton and Tess Porter were the top players in the 28-goal win.

UNDER 13B

PENOLA d KANIVA LEEOR UNITED

PENOLA held on to win an exciting Under 13B match against Kaniva Leeor United.

Everything clicked for the Eagles, which resulted in some impressive passages of play.

The goalies worked well around the ring well to maintain front position and the defence scored many intercepts to hand Penola a well-deserved win.

Best players were Ivy Wurst and Nellie Lear.

UNDER 13 MOD

PENOLA’S youngest team enjoyed a great start to the match with many turnovers to the opening stages.

Jazz, Winnie, Mia, Haylee and Matilda moved well in the forward line, providing some great front leads, while Lilly, Ella, Grace and Jaeda applied plenty of defensive pressure to pounce on any loose ball.

Grace McCarthy, Winnie Zadow and Mia Gartner were players of the week.
