THE men’s and women’s veterans singles competition was played in ideal conditions at Penola Bowing Club last Wednesday.
A tight contest was fought between Margaret Hanel and Julie Starick for the women’s veterans singles final.
In the end, Hanel defeated Starick 21-19 to claim the Betty Copping Memorial veteran singles competition.
The men’s veterans singles title went to Paul Weir, after his win over Adrian Wicks in the final.
Last Sunday, the Penola rinks hosted a field of 30 bowlers for a GI cancer day fundraiser.
Ron Hunter was the winner ahead of runner-up Wicks and Rick Mitchell.
