CENTRAL player Dylan Chuck was awarded the top honour at the Mount Gambier and District Baseball League presentations at Blue Lake Sports Park on Saturday night.

Chuck was the star of the night after he registered a total of 26 votes to receive the Martiensen and Robertson Division 1 best and fairest award.

Central players Dylan Gull (22 votes) and Steve Kuhl (24) also collected the distinguished award for both Division 2 and 3 respectively to continue a successful night for the club.

Zeb Chant of Federal won the Under 15 best and fairest award with 18 votes, while South Indians’ Deagan Habner (21) and Millicent’s Molly Cushion (16) won the Under 13 Blue and Gold honours respectively.

Federal batter Wade Chant earned plenty of silverware after he finished the Division 1 season with the top batting average of .471 and was also awarded the John Rogers memorial best Under 20 Division 1 player and the Ewart family batting trophies.

Millicent Bandit Darcy Pink averaged .550 to sit at the top of the Division 2 rankings and also scored the most runs batted in for his grade with 24.

Central Magpies player Luke Patching finished with the top Division 3 batting average of .676 and Federal’s Zeb Chant’s average of .718 saw him sit above any Under 15 contender.

Bruce Morale from the South Indians scored the most Division 1 runs batted in with a total of 22, while Central pair Kuhl (33) and Henry Muller (12) registered the most in their respective Division 3 and Under 15 grades.

Other individual honours went to Scott Page and Michael Summers, who both achieved the Cooke family memorial most valuable contribution to baseball award, while Brodie Foster won the Sluggers award.

The Hopgood trophy went to Division 1 minor premier Tigers.

The 2018/19 season team of the year was also announced on the night which is coached by Tiger Jesse Foster.

Tigers’ pitcher Brodie Foster is on the mound backed up by catcher Kyall McClean of Central.

First, second and third bases are guarded by Dyllan Lane (Tigers), Sam Shepherd (Federal) and Koby Chant (Central) respectively, while Dylan Chuck (Central) is positioned at shortstop.

The outfield is patrolled by Federal Wade Chant, South Indian Dean Hamilton and Tiger Brayden Morton.

The designated hitter of the side is South Indian Bruce Morale and the team’s utility is Tiger Tyler Horrigan, while the umpire is Clay Carpenter from Federal.

Over 150 players and supporters attended the awards night which was held immediately after the Division 1 preliminary final, a change from the previous Sunday afternoon time-slot.
