AFTER two split-rounds, all five round seven fixtures of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League will be played at Kalangadoo tomorrow.

Fans will be forced to wait for the most anticipated contest, as it is the final match of the day between Kalangadoo and Kybybolite.

Despite only being placed fifth on the ladder, the Magpies will hope to utilise their home ground advantage against the undefeated Tigers to claw closer to the top-four.

It will be a tall order for the home side who return after a narrow defeat at the hands of East Gambier, where Tara Jeffreee was among the goal kickers to be named the top Magpie on the ground.

Anthea Paterson and Bianca Thorn also performed on the day, while Alyssa Boylan will be one to watch out for in front of goals with 14 majors from just three games.

Kalangadoo have suffered two losses this season and in contrast, the northern Tigers have dominated every opponent it has come up against and have set the benchmark for the competition.

Last week the 2018 premier shown no signs of slowing down, with a 45-point victory against Glencoe on its opponents home-ground.

Hayley Sellers booted a bag of five goals and will look to continue her consistent performances in the forward line and push to be the league’s leading goal scorer.

Della Hannaford earned a best-on-ground performance with a goal, while Georgia Irvine, Mardi Riley, Lauren Sandercock and Casey McElroy all impressed too.

If these players continue their strong form, the Magpies will struggle to keep up with the flag favourites.

The opening match of the day’s play will be a showdown between two sides who aim to taste success for the first time this season.

Both West Gambier/Port MacDonnell and North Gambier are win-less so far this year and sit at the bottom of the ladder with just a bye separating the rivals.

West/Port head into the match-up with its tail between its legs after a 95-0 pasting at the hands of South Gambier last week, while the Tigers enjoyed a week’s rest.

However, North had little to smile about during its last match against Kalangadoo, where it suffered a triple-figure defeat.

After both sides failed to score a point in its most recent respective contests, any points to the scoreboard will be vital in this clash which is likely to decide who claims the wooden spoon at season’s end.

South Gambier will look to consolidate its top-four ladder position when it goes head-to-head with the Bulldogs this Sunday.

The Demons are high on confidence after a 95-point massacre over West/Port last week which was led by Kendell Saffin who produced a staggering 10-goal haul.

Jasmine White has also performed in front of the big sticks with 12 goals this season for the Demons.

East’s scoring has been dominated by the left foot of Neave Delaney who has booted 14 goals so far and will be a key player if her side can fight for the win.

Olivia Turner has proved to be a consistent performer this season, while Ella Simmonds earned best-on-ground honours last match.

The Bulldogs will be hungry to back up their tight win over Kalangadoo, but South should prove to be the more superior side.

An inconsistent Glencoe outfit will have to perform at its best against title contender Mundulla.

Mundulla have only dropped one match this season, while Glencoe experienced disappointing defeats to Kalangadoo, South Gambier and Kybybolite.

An impressive team performance saw Mundulla ease to a 77-point win against Casterton/Sandford where Amy Bruce, Natalie Twigden, Jayde Barton and Paige Richards all kicked multiple goals.

In contrast, Glencoe could only manage one goal on the scoreboard during a confidence sapping loss to Kybybolite, but Alice Tentye has shown promise all season with five goals and regular appearances in the best.

Mundulla will be expected to come out on top and remain in second position on the ladder.

A nail-biting finish is awaited when Penola and Casterton/Sandford battle in the penultimate fixture with both sides locked at two wins a piece.

However the Eagles enjoy a superior percentage over the Cats after with two commanding victories over West/Port and North, while Casterton/Sandford scraped to narrow wins against East and North.

The Cats were forced to lick their wounds after failing to score during a 77-point drubbing at the hands of Mundulla.

Casterton/Sandford have lacked scoring potency so far this year with Kate Tomkins and Janine Parsons the only players to kick more than one goal with two each.

Penola have proven to be the more attacking team of the pair and performed out of its skin last week to finish within two points from causing a huge upset over Millicent.

Kerry Dent, Anna Marcus and Amanda Wurst all converted crucial goals in last round’s nail biter, while Shandeen Balshaw was awarded best-on-ground.

They will look to continue their strong form this Sunday.
