MIL LEL needs to score 168 runs to end a tough season with a rare victory in its round 10 Barber Shield match against West Gambier at Malseed Park.

After posting the respectable total of 194, the Roos removed both Mil Lel openers cheaply late last week to put them well on top when play resumes tomorrow.

Sam Willis and Niall Easterbrook looked in ominous form with the ball claiming a wicket each and will look to add more to their figures.

Josh Cornollo also looked threatening, while Richard Crute and Ben Hentschke are yet to stamp their authority on the match with the ball.

The Roos’ attack will have their tails up against a Mil Lel batting line up which crumbled to an outright defeat to North Sportsman’s last round.

This innings represents the only chance for Mil Lel’s top order to bounce back from its horror show against the Tigers where the first five batsmen were back in the shed before the team total reached double figures.

Youngsters Tom Nieuwerkerk and Carey Megaw will resume the run chase on eight and zero runs respectively and will look to prevent another batting collapse.

Despite the recent poor performances, there is still a reasonable amount of depth yet to bat, with recent half-century makers Craig Lock and Ben Thiel ready to pad up.

Weather permitting if the match goes ahead, the hot conditions will soak out the energy of the Roos bowlers and will play into the away side’s favour.

It will likely be a day of attrition at Malseed Park tomorrow with the more patient side sure to take the upper hand.
