ONCE again the upcoming round of Limestone Coast women’s football appears to be a mixed draw, with some close and not-so-close games expected at McDonald Park on Sunday.

The most anticipated match is undoubtedly between ladder leaders South Gambier and Millicent, which will be the second clash of the day.

Last week the Demons leapfrogged the Saints to claim top spot by percentage alone.

This week will give the sides a chance to prove who deserves the top rung of the ladder at this early stage in the season.

The likes of Jasmine White and Kendell Saffin will loom large in front of goals for South, while Millicent has no shortage of firepower either.

Ella Little, Kristie Rowe and Kimberly Varcoe come off some accurate performances and are all capable of kicking a bag.

White and Rowe sit level at the top of the league goal-kicking standings with nine majors each from the three rounds played and will look to add to these totals.

Another intriguing match-up will close the day, as East Gambier locks horns with reigning premier Kybybolite.

The Bulldogs will be fresh off the bye, while the 2018 champions come off the back of a solid win over West Gambier/Port MacDonnell.

Based on what has been seen so far, Kybybolite will take to the field as favourite, after a convincing win over Mundulla in round two, a team which defeated the Bulldogs in their first hit-out of the year.

Neave Delaney will be out to make an impact for East, as she is the third player in the league to have nine goals under her belt.

She bagged six majors against Penola in round two and will hope for a similar result, while the likes of Maria-Lina Tralongo, Olivia Turner and Isabel Redemski were all among the best against the Eagles.

They will hope to perform well again on their home ground, with a team effort needed to take down the reigning premiers.

Kybybolite boasts a consistent lineup, with Sophie Ford, Lucy Kramm and Hayley Sellars sharing the top scorer accolade last week with two goals each.

Tyler Atkinson has also been in form and will hope for another influential game.

The opener of the day will see Casterton Sandford and Kalangadoo go head-to-head.

The Magpies will carry confidence into the clash, as they held their own against Millicent last week to go down by just 10 points.

On the other hand, the Cats perished against Glencoe last round, with Kalangadoo defeating the Murphies back in round one.

Kalangadoo’s Alyssa Boylan bagged three goals last week and was named second best, while Jamie Ryan was best-on-ground.

The likes of Holly Watson, Paris Ackland and Eva Bonde will also be out to impress again, after solid efforts last round.

For the Cats the likes of Erin Munro, Madison Mutch and Prue Harvey will all be influential in creating some passage of play, but it will likely be another tough day at the office.

The remaining two games are expected to result in big wins, as Penola looks to redeem its last two rounds with a solid result over North Gambier.

The Eagles will look to Angela Broad in front of goals, while the likes of Amanda Wurst, Karmel Finch and Chloe Long will also be out to make an impact.

For the Tigers, the regular performers of Tayla Lowe and Ella Firth will hope to lift their side to its first win, but it is unlikely it will come this round.

The final match will see Mundulla meet West Gambier/Port MacDonnell in Sunday’s penultimate game.

Mundulla will be the sure favourite, as the Roos have only scored a combined 21 points from all three of its games this season.

A big win over North last week will see Mundulla with confidence and another 18-goal haul will not be off the table.

Mundulla was best served by Emily Moxon last week, as she was named best player with three goals to her name, while Jenna Kennett top scored with five majors.

They will look to lead the way again and help their team to another percentage-boosting win.
