OUT GUNNED: North Gambier’s Sarah Pilven and her teammates lacked the firepower to compete with Mundulla in round three of Limestone Coast women’s football at Kybybolite on Sunday.

THE Limestone Coast Women’s Football League hit the road on Sunday, with round three of the season played at Kybybolite.

The day kicked off with a solid win for South Gambier over Penola, followed by Glencoe’s first triumph of the season against Casterton Sandford.

North Gambier struggled against Mundulla for an eventual 103-point deficit, while a close battle between Kalangadoo and Millicent saw the latter with a 10-point win.

The final game of the day was won convincingly by the hosts, as Kybybolite held West Gambier/Port MacDonnell to a single behind, while having a field day in front of goal.

SOUTH GAMBIER 7.3 (45) d PENOLA 2.2 (14)

IT did not take long for South Gambier to take the advantage over Penola in the opening match of the day.

The Demons were off to a strong start, with two straight kicks in the first term, while the Eagles found the big sticks once.

With six points the difference heading into the second quarter, South took hold of the game and booted three majors and two minors to Penola’s two behinds.

That set up a 24-point margin which the Eagles would not come back from, as a single goal in the third term was their final score for the match.

The Demons went on to add two goals and a behind in the second half and claim a 31-point victory, which now sees them on top of the ladder heading into round four.

Jasmine White was the dominant force in front of goal for South, as she scored a solid four majors.

She was joined on the scorer’s list by Darcie Kuhl and Kate Kourmouzis who scored one each.

Despite White’s efforts, it was Imogen Walker who was named as best-on-ground, with her hard work around the ground paying off.

Kaylene Nuske, Alexandra Lucas, Kendell Saffin and White were also among the Demons’ best.

GLENCOE 7.7 (49) d CASTERTON SANDFORD 0.2 (2)

CASTERTON Sandford was unable to replicate its come-from-behind victory from last round when it faced Glencoe in Sunday’s second game.

The Murphies had established a 27-point lead by half time, after a margin of four points at the first change.

Two minor scores in the opening quarter would be the Cats’ only shots at goal, with the scoreboard untouched by them for the remaining three terms.

The Glencoe attack did not relent and added another three goals and two behinds in the second half to reach its total of 7.7 and claim a solid 47-point win.

Alice Tentye was the standout for the Murphies, as she earned the best-on-ground honours with three goals to her name.

Simone MacDonald and Kayce Brown rounded out the goal kickers, with two majors each, while Sarah Edwards and Tara Bonney were also among the best players.

MUNDULLA 18.3 (111) d NORTH GAMBIER 1.2 (8)

AFTER last week’s loss to Kybybolite, Mundulla bounced back in deadly fashion, with a big victory over the win-less North Gambier.

The final margin saw a massive 103-point deficit to the Mount Gambier Tigers, as they failed to make an impact on the board.

North managed just one goal for the game, kicked in the final stanza, while Mundulla had an accurate day to find the big sticks on 18 occasions, kicking just three behinds.

With North scoreless and a margin of 57 points at half time, the Tigers simply succumbed to Mundulla’s firepower.

Jenna Kennett had a field day to boot five majors for the match, while Emily Moxon kicked three in another solid effort.

Moxon was named best-on-ground for the victors, while Kennet was also around the mark.

Paige Marra and Amy Bruce scored two majors each, with the latter second best on the day, while Melanie Jarrett, Carlee Feder and Tracey Poulton also performed well.

MILLICENT 6.5 (41) d KALANGADOO 5.1 (31)

WHAT was expected to result in another good win for Millicent ended up the match of the round, as the Saints locked horns with Kalangadoo on Sunday.

Just 10 points separated the sides at the final siren, with Millicent retaining its undefeated status by a slim margin.

However, the close win saw South Gambier steal the top spot on the ladder, which will give the Saints more incentive heading into their round-four meeting with the Demons.

Millicent’s Kristie Rowe upheld her form in front of goal to top score with three, while Kimberley Varcoe, Kelsey Batt and Lauren Potter bagged a major each.

For the Magpies it was Alyssa Boylan who led the charge with three goals, while Brittany Scholz and Narelle Ryan both scored one.

The best player honours went to Kelsie Wilkinson for Millicent, while Kalangadoo’s Jamie Ryan performed best.

KYBYBOLITE 10.16 (76) d WEST GAMBIER/PORT MACDONNELL 0.1 (1)

KYBYBOLITE has continued its title defence with a dominant win over the struggling West Gambier/Port MacDonnell.

Just one behind was added by the Roos for the whole game, while the reigning premiers found the middle of the posts on 10 occasions.

By half time a 34-point margin had been established, before the onslaught continued after the long break.

A consistent performance saw Sophie Ford, Lucy Kramm and Hayley Sellars with two majors each.

Tyler Atkinson was named as best-on-ground for the match, while Ford, Parker Lees, Della Hannaford, Ella Jones and Sophie Hentschke were also among the best.
