NORTH Sportsman’s is on the brink of claiming its first outright win of the season, when it returns to Frew Park for day two of its round nine match against Mil Lel tomorrow.

The home side sits at the hopeless position of 5/17 in the second innings, still requiring another 11 runs just to make the Tigers bat again.

Craig Lock (6) and youngster Kaidyn Weber (3) are the not out Mil Lel batsmen, with only their tail-enders for company after the top order folded last week.

With one of the two Mil Lel batsmen who reached double figures in day one already dismissed, the pair have a mountain to climb to prevent a likely outright defeat.

This will be a challenge after the recent form demonstrated by the North bowling attack, which bowled out Mil Lel for just 81 in the first innings.

Fast bowler Nick McInenrey has already captured eight victims in this game and will be on the hunt to achieve the rare feat of a 10-wicket match haul.

The Tigers’ bowlers will be keen to claim the remaining five wickets for less than 11 runs to claim a dominant outright win with an innings to spare.

However, with a warm day expected the Mil Lel lower order could use the conditions to dig in and make North toil for its wickets, but with 80 overs to complete, time is against the hosts to produce a fighting escape.

If North continue its dominant performance, an outright win to the Tigers will be a matter of when rather than if.
