Inclement weather sees cricket cancelled yet again

Clean bowled

CRICKET across the Limestone Coast took another blow on Saturday when games were called off due to the inclement weather.

It is the third time this season the Barber Shield competition has been disrupted due to the weather, with Saturday seeing just one game start, with two abandoned.

East Gambier kicked off its clash with Mil Lel at Scott Park with a solid start.

Captain Dion Stratford managed a 90-run knock to set up a 200-run total.

The Bulldogs then had Mil Lel on the back foot, at 4/22 in the seventh over.

But then the heavens opened and it was all over.

In other games, the pitch and outfield at Marist Park and Blue Lake Sports Park were not up to standard, with both games called off before a ball was bowled.

The Barber Shield now has a break over the Christmas/new year period, set to resume on January 12.
