MOUNT Gambier Bowls Club enjoyed a good weekend out in Round 3 of the Lower South East Bowling Association Open Pennant season.

The club won three of its four games on Saturday, while the Division 4 Blue team again did not play due to a forfeit by Penola.

DIVISION 1 – Mount Gambier 100/14 d Mount Gambier RSL Blue 61/2

IN the Division 1 Open Pennant competition, Mount Gambier hosted Mount Gambier RSL Blue for a dominant victory.

The home team won on two of the three rinks, but still managed a solid shot difference of 39 at the end of the day.

Garry McIntyre, John Reppin, Daniel Langdon and skipper Tony Bowditch were in the winner’s circle this week with a big triumph over Ron Ploenges’ team.

The final result was a 39-13 win, while Bill Bremner, Peter Radley, Peter Reppin and Greg Carpenter also claimed the rink honours with a 35-17 result over Strawb Masters’ side.

Tony Renzi and his team went down to Glenn Wright 26-31, despite winning five more ends.

DIVISION 2 – Mount Gambier 76/14 d Lucindale 67/2

MOUNT Gambier’s Division 2 Open Pennant side welcomed Lucindale to its home greens on Saturday.

Despite a closer final scoreline to the Division 1 match, Mount Gambier was still able to take out the overall honours, with wins on two rinks.

Brian Francis, Darryl Ranneberg, Gary Widdison and Ian VonStanke defeated Neil Watts’ rink 31-15, while Paul Kovaleff, Marika Heaver, Kym Jones and Terry Seiler also finished on top with a 26-19 victory over Richard Graetz’ squad.

Jeff England’s rink went down this week to Mark Dupree 19-33.

DIVISION 3 – Mount Gambier 101/14 d Mount Gambier RSL Blue 67/2

ANOTHER big win was on the cards for Mount Gambier’s Division 3 side, when it travelled to Mount Gambier RSL to face the Blue team.

Kristy Errock and her team recorded a massive 46 -15 shot win to set up the staggering final margin, while Bob Cranwell’s four was also victorious with a closer 25-20 result.

A tough battle saw Scott Wilson’s rink go down 30-32.

DIVISION 4 RED – Mount Gambier RSL 65/13 d Mount Gambier 62/3

THE only loss for the Mount Gambier Bowls Club in Saturday’s Lower South East Bowling Association Open Pennant competition was in Division 4 Red and by a small margin to Mount Gambier RSL.

Ron Kuhl’s rink won their match-up, while John Kentish’s team fought it out for a draw.

The result could have easily gone either way, with just three shots the difference in the end, but the defeat dealt to Lindsay Moyle’s rink was enough to see the RSL with the honours.
