PORT MacDonnell was the spot to be on the weekend for drifting enthusiasts, with a field of 40 drivers enjoying two days of non-stop drift action.

The Shockworks Bayside Spring Matsuri was conducted by the South East Motorsport Alliance and was hailed a great success.

The drivers, family, friends and crew made the trek from as far as Adelaide, Melbourne and Port Augusta for the event, which was described not as a competition, but a freestyle relaxed drift session where drivers can run on their own, or as part of a drift train involving up to five cars.

The unique drifting experience on a public roads was well received by participants, with some positive feedback on the weekend.

“Most fun event in years.

“It really lets people have straight up drifting fun with mates and good vibes – just like the old days,” said Max Haggard of Adelaide.

“Thank you to yourself, all the volunteers and everyone on the admin side of the event. It was ran perfectly, so laid back and I had a great time. We’ll definitely be back for the next one,” said Lachie Amato of Port Augusta.
