Legends take to Casadio Park

BLAST FROM THE PAST: Legends of the International Soccer Club’s successful 1990’s campaign will take to Casadio Park tomorrow against an All Stars team to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Italo Australian Club.

CASADIO Park will play host to a match of the ages on today, when the International Soccer Club “legends” take on the Limestone Coast Masters All Stars team to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Italo Australian Club.

The Inter legends will wear the traditional black and blue guernsey and the team will feature many golden era players which played in Inter’s premiership teams of the successful 1980 and 1990 campaigns.

Players to line up will include the prolific goal-scoring brothers Tony and Joe D’Agostino, goalkeepers Bert Dimuccio and Eric “Spanish” Nieto, plus Vince Versace, Tony Bueti, Mauro Rossi, Remi Pace and cousins Lou and John Zaccardo.

The All Stars team is expected to be a formidable opponent, with a number of ex A Grade players in its ranks, including legend stalwart Ian Lines from Millicent and former Blue Lake players Brian McCormick and Rako Kuzmanovic.

The team will also include former Apollo goalkeeper Colin Smith and player Adrian Elliot-Smith, who will be sadly leaving the region after the match as he makes the move to Melbourne.

Successful premiership co-coaches Tony D’Agostino and Lou Zaccardo said although the players were sporting some extra kilos and had not played competitively for a number of years, they were still very keen and continued to have the desire and skill level to put on a show.

The players went through their final training session this week at Casadio Park in preparation to relive the memories of old.

The match will start at 4pm and will be preceded by the South East Women’s Football Association match between Millicent and Inter CFC at 2pm.

All are welcome to attend what should be an entertaining afternoon of soccer.
