THE Limestone Coast women’s football ladder remains tight after the penultimate minor round on Sunday at Blue Lake Sports Park.

The top three – Kybybolite, Millicent and South Gambier – all remain on 10 points each after recording wins, with the remaining sides now playing for pride.

Again some big scores were recorded, with Millicent easy winners over a scoreless West Gambier after posting 82 points.

South continues to improve as the finals approach, with 62 points against a scoreless North Gambier, while top-of-the-table Kybybolite managed 42 points to be 38-point victors over Glencoe All Stars.

With just one minor round remaining the focus shifts to the top three, where any of those could make the grand final with a top-two position.

East Gambier 4.2 (26) d Kalangadoo 3.2 (20)

EAST was forced to work hard for a victory against a determined Kalangadoo, with the winning goal scored in the final term.

It was a tough result for the Magpies, who recorded a big win last round.

With just a straight kick the difference in the end, six-pointers were a valuable commodity, with both sides recording just two minor scores each.

For East, Annabelle Plunkett stood tall to claim two goals, while Alex Brodie and Mahli Pannenburg managed one each.

For Kalangadoo, Abbey Shannon managed two, while Sharnna Devereux added one.

Topping the best players for East were Niamh Graney and Bo Creek, while for Kalangadoo Kylie Schultz and Devereux filled the top two positions.

Kybybolite 6.6 (42) d Glencoe 0.4 (4)

KYBYBOLITE continued on its winning way, claiming a comfortable victory over Glencoe.

The All Stars were no match for the northern Tigers, who were out of the box slowly, but built on that as the game went on.

The second term set the scene, where the Tigers kicked three major scores to blow the game open.

By that stage Glencoe had managed just four minors and would not bother the scorers for the remainder of the game.

Susie Maber did most of the damage, bagging four goals for the victors, while Mardi Riley and Sophie Ford chipped in with one each.

Kybybolite was best served by Tyler Atkinson and Maber, while the All Stars’ best were Alicia Frankenburg and Susan Haase.

Millicent 12.10 (82) d West Gambier 0.0 (0)

MILLICENT was off to a cracking start against West and never slowed down from there.

A first-quarter three goal run set up the win, but the third term ensured there would be no coming back for the Roos.

The Saints banged on five goals in the “premiership” quarter, burying any hopes the Roos may have held.

West was unable to bother the scorers in another one-sided contest.

As a result the Saints remain in second position on the ladder with their sights set firmly on a grand final berth.

Kelsie Wilkinson (four goals) and Lucy Barber (three) did most of the damage up forward, while Maddi Turner and Wilkinson were the best two on the park.

West was best served by Cody Millard and Lesley Macdonald.

South Gambier 9.10 (64) d North Gambier 0.0 (0)

THREE solid terms was all it took to ensure another big win for the Demons when they hosted North Gambier.

The reigning premiers were clinical in the first three terms, opening with four majors in the first, two in the second and a further three in the third.

The Tigers had no answer, but still managed to remain off the bottom of the ladder.

Kaylene Nuske and Tess Clark managed two goals each for the victors, with Kate Kourmouzis and Clark voted best.

Sarah Pilven and Samantha Scott filled the top two best positions for the Tigers.
