Golf: Hot form secures summer trophy

TOP PERFORMANCE: Lucy Richards proudly displays the Summer Trophy, after a solid first three rounds of play provided the win.

DUE to the extreme blustery conditions last Wednesday it was a smaller than normal field for the Blue Lake women golfers who were brave enough to play in the fourth and final round of the Summer Trophy in a stableford format.

The result was already a foregone conclusion, with Lucy Richards previously playing an outstanding three rounds to score the maximum of nine points, with only the best three out of four round scores counting towards the overall prize.

Josie Ashby finished runner-up with five points, followed by Helen Myers, Fay Price and Carol Megaw, all on two.

As there was only one division, winners were presented with vouchers on the day, with Ashby coming in with 36 stableford points, followed by Fay Price on 33 and Sue Agars, Dianne Perryman and Lyn Annand on 32.

Ashby also claimed nearest the pin and also the pro-shot.

A special mention to Annette Ford, one of the representatives from Blue Lake who was runner-up in the A Grade nett at the recent Southern Ports tournament for 2018.

Today will see the “pink day” fund-raiser for breast cancer awareness played in a stableford format.

Women are advised to wear pink attire and there will be a pink-themed afternoon tea after the presentation of prizes.

The women’s monthly committee meeting will follow.
