Bowls: Triple threat for champs

BACK-TO-BACK: Graham Ellis (skip), Gary Feast and John Schroder won back-to-back men’s triples championship honours at Mount Gambier RSL and District Bowling Club on Sunday.

JOHN Schroder, Gary Feast and skipper Graham Ellis defended their Mount Gambier RSL and District Bowling Club’s men’s triples championship title on Sunday.

The trio clashed with John Robinson, Jim Cruise and John Spehr (skip) in the final.

Spehr’s side had the better of the game early and led 12-6 by the half-way mark.

However, they were over-run by the eventual winners of Schroder, Feast and Ellis who won 18-15 to claim back-to-back men’s triples championships.

A total of 19 teams played in the first four rounds of the championship, which were played in January, but due to the Country Carnival and Round Robin the finals were delayed until the weekend.
