Golf: Bouchier in red hot form

A FIELD of 78 players took to the course to play in the Blue Lake Golf Club’s February monthly medal round and it was Mark Bouchier who shot an impressive nett 59 to account for the rest of the field and takes home the overall prize for his trouble.

In A Grade Jason McCrae claimed the honours with nett 61, ahead of Brett Perryman with nett 63 after a count-back from Bruce Morale.

B Grade saw Aaron O’Donnell take the win with nett 62, ahead of Tony Morandin after a count-back from Alan Gale, with both carding nett 66.

Richard Humphries claimed C Grade with nett 62, ahead of David McKersie and Mario Mancuso.

Balls were payed down to nett 67, with winners including Roger Gale, Josh Gale, Tim Bates, Sam Letizia, Trevor Little, Mathew Fenwick, Jim Ferrazola, Setio Shanahan, Kevin Howell and Michael Egan.

The pro-shot went to Niki Collins, while birdies on the fifth hole went to Jason Mc Crae, Bruce Morale, Setio Shanahan, Shane Hearps and Kevin Howell.

Nearest the pin winners were Stephen Harvey, Richard Dean and Tim Bates, while long drive winners were Trevor Callis, Mark Bouchier and Trevor Little.

For the women, Dianne Perryman finished with a nett 72 to claim the honours on count-back from Annette Ford.

Lyn Annand won a ball while the long drive went to Ford.

The hole-in-one cash jackpot is $430.

Fenwick on track

MATHEW Fenwick has raced to secure enough rounds to qualify for the Holden scramble regional finals in recent weeks.

With one card left to hand in he has made short work of the field as he set his name at the top of the leaderboard on Thursday with a silky smooth 39 points.

In second place it took a count-back between Ian Bown and Bryce Cutting, after both finished their rounds on 38, but it was Bown who navigated the back nine best.

Ball winners were payed down to 36 points, including Robert Ellis, David Lamont, Zack Williams, Colin Tester and Bruce Grubb.

The pro-shot went to Ryan Williams, while the best front nine winner was Bryce Cutting.

The hole-in-one voucher jackpot is now $1582.

Wednesday daylight savings competition

THINGS are heating up in the Daylight Savings nine-hole competition with only five weeks to go.

This week it was Rob Ellis who got the chocolates after finishing on 24 points, two clear of Trevor Gartside.

In third place was Bob White who can not seem to do anything wrong at the moment.

He finished this week with 21 points and sits clear at the top of the overall standings, as he has done for several weeks now.

Can he be caught with only five week to go is the question.

Pro-shots went to Sean Pudney on the 14th and Josh Gale on the 16th.

Shots of the day went to Bob White (10th hole), Rob Ellis (11th), Callum Harvey (12th), Setio Shanahan (13th), no result on the 14th, Jamal J (15th), Rob Ellis (16th), Marty M (17th) and Bob White (18th).

The eagle cash jackpot is $253.

Thursday night super 3s

THE Super 3s has been run and won for this year, with the two teams battling it out in wet conditions last Thursday night.

It was the School Teachers versus The Tradies and with a close finish it was the Tradies who got the job done.

The team of Roger Doody, Smokey Von Duve, Brad Von Duve and non-playing captain Neal Doody – who was struck down with an injury and missed the last two weeks of competition – claimed the honours.

Ella’s Purple Promise golf day

BLUE Lake Public Golf Links will join forces with ‘Raising Epilepsy Awareness’ in the form of a three-person ambrose on March 4.

Registration is at 10am with an 11am shotgun start and included in the entry fee is a sausage sizzle while playing and fingerfood at the completion of play.

On the day there will be nearest the pins, long drives and a putting competition, with raffles and auction items going under the hammer after the round of golf.

Those wishing to take part in the day can call the club on 8725 6198 to nominate your team on a day which promises to be a lot of fun.
