Lake dominates Mount Gambier High swim carnival

LAKE PREVAILS: Winning house ‘Lake’ sporting captains and vice captains Jesse Williams, Jasper Whitehead, Sara Smith and Georgia Hood.

MOUNT Gambier High School students battled it out last week in their annual swimming carnival at the Mount Gambier Aquatics Centre.

Blustery, cool conditions did not put a dampener on early participation and enthusiasm with Gambier, the back-to-back reigning champions, out to take home the P.M. Cutbush Shield again.

Some tight results in the novelties saw the overall score extremely close with the lead changing on a number of occasions.

Students participated in four championship events, as well as a number of novelty events.

The obstacle course was a feature for many, with a new course providing some highlights for spectators.

The four iron person events were eagerly anticipated again this year, and competitors gave it their all to complete the challenging course.

Overall, Lake came out on top by a whopping 90 points with a final score of 870.

The tussle between Gambier (second) and Tower (third) was tight with the teams receiving final scores of 717 and 692 respectively.

Whilst Mount finished in fourth position with a score of 551.
