Bowls: Port MacDonnell climbs into top four

PORT MacDonnell Bowling Club’s Division 1 Open Pennant team made it into the top four on Saturday after it defeated Lucindale 67/16 to 54/0.

The remaining minor rounds of the season will now be vital for the side, as it is only one point in front of the fifth-placed Millicent.

For the Division 2 team it was a struggle against Naracoorte, which saw the Bay win on only one rink.

The final score saw the Naracoorte hosts with 86/14 to Port MacDonnell’s 49/2.

The Division 3 side also made the trip to Naracoorte on Saturday, but it was able to win on all three rinks.

Leaving Naracoorte without any victory, the final score was 86/16 to 45/0.

Friday Pennant

IN the Friday Pennant competition, Port MacDonnell’s Division 1 side played at Mount Gambier RSL Red, finishing the match with a three-shot win.

With both sides wining a rink each, the visitors were able to secure the points with a final score of 41/12 to 38/2.

Division 2 was home to Kalangadoo/Penola on Friday, which saw the guests prove too strong.

Going down on both rinks, Port MacDonnell finished with a score of 30/0 to Kalangadoo/Penola’s 59/14.

Another loss was had by the Division 3 team, as it travelled to Lucindale for a win on one rink.

In the end an eight-point deficit saw Port MacDonnell return home empty handed, as it finished with 41/2 to Lucindale’s 49/12.
