MOUNT Gambier’s talented junior basketballers finished 2017 on a high as they gained valuable experience from coaching clinics with Dean Kinsman.
Held over two days, the clinics saw a total of 110 juniors embracing the innovative challenges and activities Kinsman presented to them.
Kinsman is recognised as one of the best junior basketball coaches in Australia.
Introducing the players to new techniques and team strategies, he also presented drills and activities to inspire the youngsters to strive for higher levels and to gain a better understanding of the game.
Opportunities were also presented to local coaches for personal development in terms of new drills and ideas to implement when coaching in game situations.
The two-day program was successful in all aspects as players displayed high energy levels in their efforts and showed clear improvements in skill execution during the sessions on the second day.
The Junior Lakers came away from the clinic with renewed enthusiasm and a determination to make the most of their athletic abilities in basketball.
Kinsman thoroughly enjoys his time in Mount Gambier and was pleased to monitor the progress of the local basketballers.

Parents were also impressed by the sessions and Kinsman’s expertise and are eager for his return in December 2018.
Many of the participants are currently working hard in preparation for the Australian Country Basketball Cup and the Southern Cross Challenge where they will represent SA Country Basketball.
The Kinsman clinic boosted this by adding to the physical preparation and emphasising the mental attitudes and approach needed to succeed in national events.
