Bowls: Port MacDonnell hosts fours event

PORT MacDonnell hosted its men’s fours catered day last Thursday, with 14 teams representing various bowling clubs competed for the honours.

The winning side on the day consisted of Mount Gambier RSL’s Ralph Stafford, John Feast, Gary Feast and Chris Waugh who finished on 86 points.

Runners-up for the event were also from the Mount Gambier RSL Bowling Club, as Robert Corner, Rex Heins, Andy Ashby and Dean Wilkinson had to settle for second with a single point deficit on 85.

The Naracoorte/Port MacDonnell combination of Graham and Jeff East, Barrie Schmidt and Ben Tilley rounded out the podium with 80 points.

Other teams for the day included a combined Port MacDonnell/Mount Gambier RSL/Kalangadoo side, a Stawell/Port MacDonnell team, along with a Mount Gambier RSL/Queensland rink.

Dartmoor, Port MacDonnell and Mount Gambier were also represented as full teams.

The day saw two games of 18 ends played, with the first on the Barry Praetz Green.

This was followed by lunch, before the second game was played on the new Ken Williamson green.

A presentation was held to congratulate the winners after the day’s play.
