MGGC: Trio share honours

IMPRESSIVE ROUND: Parker Smith was one of three to share the round of the day at Mount Gambier Golf Course, posting an impressive 40 points in the men’s stableford event on Saturday.

RICKY Walker, Parker Smith and Jason Millhouse shared the round of the day honours in the men’s stableford on Saturday at Mount Gambier Golf Course, all posting 40 points.

Scoring was just as tight further down as well with only four points separating the first 21 players.

Walker claimed the D Grade winners’ voucher over Haydn Dow on 38 points.

Smith won top honours in B Grade, by countback, over Milhouse.

In A Grade it was the recently promised Craig Foster taking first place with an impressive 39 points, with Duncan Savage runner-up on 37.

In C Grade Jeffery Green won with 37 points, followed closely by David McPherson on 35.

Russell Lewis claimed the pro-shot on 16 and great clubman Ian Ewart claimed the highly prized shot-of-the-day on the eighth.

Both players managed to sink their respective putts for a birdie two, with Rob McIntyre, Peter Miller, Joe Clements, Millhouse, McPherson and Smith joining them.

Women’s stableford

DONNA Jennings claimed first place with 40 points and completed an excellent day out by picking up the pro-shot on the 16th.

In second place was Maxine McGregor on 36 points, while Julie Robinson took third on a countback from Kerry Pedlar on 35.

Dianne O’Donnell managed the shot-of-the-day on the eighth.

Men’s stableford

JOHN Maxwell posted an impressive 44 points to claim the $100 winners’ voucher last Thursday.

Jim Leane was forced to settle for runner-up on 42 points, while Wayne Sampson and Robert Smith finished on 41.

David Douglas, Jack Jennings, Andrew Lewis and Bob Dalgarno were just one point behind on 40.

Nick Black claimed the nearest the pin on the 16th, while Keith Couzner took the shot-of-the-day honours on the signature eighth.
