Up at the links: Fun and games for annual Christmas day

FUN AND GAMES: It was all fun and games at the Blue Lake Golf Links on Sunday for the annual Christmas Day, which included an ambrose competition and fun for the children.

A BIG field of 92 competitors greeted the starter at the Blue Lake Golf Club on Saturday and it was John Robertson who took out the December monthly medal with smart and calculated golf to return with an impressive round of 93-24-59 nett.

Michael Egan was happy with his game, with a fine round of 75-13-65 nett to claim A Grade in style.

He finished three shots clear of Port MacDonnell’s John Howard, who recorded a score of 74-9-65.

One shot back in third place Roger Gale with a solid round of 76-10-66 nett.

Aaron O’Donnell had plenty to crow about as he produced the goods to win B Grade with a round of 86-23-63 nett, ahead Ros McMahon on a count-back with 84-21-63.

Rounding out the placings was Wayne Dunford who had his game on target with a score of 82-16-66 nett.

David Lock played the game of his life to take out C Grade with a superb round of 87-27-60 nett to account for the in-form Adam Jones, two shots back with 86-24-62.

In third place was new member Gordon Parry on a count-back, with a round of 90-24-66 nett.

Ball run down winners were Don Annand 66, Tony Brooks 67, Russell Lingham 68, Stephen Von Duve 68, Stephen Harvey 68, Colin Ferguson 68, Tim Bates 68, Simon Kieselbach 69, Callum Harvey 69 and Geoff Munt 69 on a count-back.

Pro-shots went to Neal Doody on the fifth hole and John Robertson on the 16th, with the pair claiming four balls each.

Nearest the pins were A Grade’s Setio Shanahan, B Grade’s Matthew Perry and C Grade’s Richard Dean.

A Grade’s Roger Gale, B Grade’s Simon Kieselbach and C Grade’s Dean claimed the long drives.

Women’s results: Annette Ford nett 65; Marlene Lingham 68 c/b; Geraldine Scott 68.

Nearest the pin on the fifth hole went to Dianne Perryman, Scott claimed the long drive and the putts went to Bev Pascoe.

The hole-in-one cash jackpot is $1000.

Perfect conditions

WITH the sun shining and Christmas fast approaching it was a great mid-week competition, with 50 players in the field.

Finding a bit of form was Frank Pinneri who recorded a score of nett 62 to finish two shots clear of Mathew Feast and Nic Clayton, who both finished with 64.

Ball winners were Stephen Gray 64, Tony Steen 64, Wayne Dunford 65, Stephen Von Duve 66 and Garry Fox 66.

The pro-shot on the fifth hole went to Stephen Gray, while the putts winner was Matthew Feast.

The hole-in-one voucher jackpot is now $1287.

Wednesday daylight savings

WITH another great field for the mid week daylight savings competition it was Michael Jazepcyzk who showed the way in the afternoon after recording a score of 23 points.

In second was Evan Mckee who entered the clubhouse on 21 after a count-back from Michael Carne.

Pro-shots went to Bob White on the 14th hole and Billy Burley on the 16th.

Shots of the day went to Matt Perry (10th hole), Matt Noonan (11th), Trevor Gartside (12th), Bill Burley (13th), Bob White (14th), Mick Carne (15th), no result on the 16th, Stephen Bartholomew (17th) and Greg Cooper n the 18th.

The eagle cash jackpot is now $184.

Thursday nine hole results: Graham Marks 25 points c/b; Allen Cameron 25; Victor Smith 24.

Family fun at Christmas Ambrose

IT was all fun and games for the Blue Lake Golf Club annual Christmas Day, which was a huge success, with more than 25 pairs participating in the nine-hole ambrose, along with 30 children who took advantage of the blow up castle and mini golf along with their mums and dads, grandparents, families and friends.
