Softball: Concordes United no match for Warriors

CONCORDES United was no match for Warriors late in the game, with the latter eventually claiming a solid win in the recent round of Mount Gambier softball.

Strong fielding from both sides kept the score at a low 1-0 until the third innings.

An impressive triple from Raquel Sneath allowed Warriors to gain the upper-hand 6-2.

However, despite the score Concordes did not give up.

Billie Jones and Linda Dodds were at their best in attempt to keep Concordes in the game.

However, Warriors reigned supreme with Leyna Bruggemann finishing off the game with the season’s first over the fence home run.

Demons 16 d Wanderers 11

DEMONS claimed a five-run victory over Wanderers in what was a nail-biting game early.

It was all tied up early, with the Demons setting the standard only for Wanderers to respond.

Sarah Nieuwenhausen, Anna Livingston and Cody Manning chipped in with the bat to score three runs for Demons.

However, Wanderers then took the chance to tie things up with six safehits bringing their score to three-all.

Demons’ Bella Morale was next up.

She managed to smash the ball to centre-field to get a triple to score two runs before the third out was made.

Wanderers fought hard to get the lead with Em Hart and Jo Hart hitting to right field to bring the score to 6-3.

However, Demons then stepped things up hitting six safehits to take the lead back 7-6.

Wanderers continued put in the work, but due to some great fielding from Demons it could not pull ahead.

Demons Steph John ended the game with a great hit to centre field, finishing up 16-11.
