TOUGH CONDITIONS: Robe’s South Port Scallywags wrestled their way to a win in the Under 19 female competition at the Team Navy Surf Boat Series opener in Robe on Saturday.

MORE than 200 rowers, officials and supporters ventured to Robe’s Long Beach on Saturday to kick off another Team Navy Surf Boat Series.

Met by challenging surf conditions, all participants enjoyed the tough competition.

With some good results from all over the state, it was also good to see the Portland Victoria crew make the effort to cross the border and take out the Under 19 male division.

The event provided not only entertainment, but also an economic boost for the town, as most participants stayed for a couple of nights and enjoyed all Robe has to offer.

The Team Navy SA Series looks forward to the possibility of again being launched in Robe next December.
