NARACOORTE Tennis Club hosted the South East Tennis Association (SETA) annual Junior Invitation Singles event on Sunday.

The successful day saw three divisions for both boys and girls, with 12, 14 and 16 and Under’s competing in a round robin format.

In total there were 40 players in across all divisions, representing clubs and regions including Naracoorte, Southern Ports, Mount Gambier, Tatiara, Bordertown and Keith.

In the 16 and Under boys, it was Noah Lang who claimed the overall honours, defeating runner-up Riley Burn.

Brady Cook secure the 14 and Under win, followed by Joel Childs, while in the 12 and Under boys Zayne Young defeated Shaun Robinson in the final.

For the girls, the 14 and Under division saw Emily Edwards take out the title over Poppy Moyle-Read, while the 12 and Under competition was won by Jorja Mitchell from Jess Stutley.

Tournament director Cassie Edwards was pleased with the number of entries and also the number of clubs which were represented.

The standard of competition was good in quite windy conditions and there was good sportsmanship throughout the day and tight contests in many of the match ups.

The 16 and Under boys and 12 and Under girls were both particularly close divisions.

Special mention was given to Edwards and Tatiara representative Rachel McLellan for their work towards the running of the event.

Edwards spent many hours organising the event, taking entries, writing up the draws and tallying the results, while McLellan organised all of the trophies, balls and advertising.

The Naracoorte Tennis Club also thanks members Susie Clyne, Will and Jen Malone, Fiona Miles, Michelle Moyle-Read and Sonya White, who helped provide lunch and afternoon tea and Kelsie Moyle-Read for manning the canteen all day.
