Speedway: Win no fluke for McFadden

FRESH off a win at the Borderline Speedway, James McFadden repeated that form, claiming the SA Sprintcar Championship at Murray Bridge on the weekend.

It was McFadden’s first SA title, finishing ahead of Brad Keller and Robbie Farr, with Mount Gambier’s Steven Lines just off the podium in fourth place.

It was a tough night for many drivers, with rollovers delegating big names to the DNF list.

A large entry list saw minimal heats, with just four opportunities to claim a direct route to the A Main feature.

Heat one saw Jake Tranter line up at the front of the grid, with Glen Sutherland down in sixth.

Tranter went on to finish second behind Farr, while Sutherland was unable to make up any places.

Lines was on the pace early, claiming the heat two win ahead of McFadden from third on the grid, with McFadden starting out of fourth, while Scott Enderl went from first to seventh.

The final two heats saw Van Ginneken and Lachlan McHugh make the grade, with a dash to follow.

Lines started from third place in the dash, with Tranter down in eighth.

McFadden claimed the honours from seventh place, while Tranter suffered accident damage which ultimately ended his night and Lines was fifth.

The B Main saw Sutherland and Enderl start from eighth and ninth respectively, with Sutherland finishing eighth and Enderl 11th, with no A Main feature for the pair.

Lines started out of fifth in the main feature, moving up a spot as the race wound down.
