Tennis: Four-way title tie for Mid South East

A SUCCESSFUL Mid South East tennis team has returned from the Division 4 SAPSASA state tennis carnival at the Broadview/Prospect courts.

The side finished equal first on 23 points in a four-way tie with Gawler, Southern Yorke Peninsula and North Eastern.

Two matches were cancelled due to thunderstorms, but overall the MSE side showed its strength throughout the week-long competition.

MSE opened its account with a strong display, defeating Northern 17-1 sets.

Best players were Finleigh Altschwager and Madison Kelly.

The side then defeated Murray Mallee 14-4 sets, with Anders McShane and Emma Lang best.

That followed a couple of tough contests, with a 10-8 win over Playford/Para District and the same scoreline over Gawler.

Flynn Kain, Maiya Jakupec, Ty Lang and Alice Tentye represented the side well in those games.

Cade Kelly and Emma Lang shone through in another big win, this time a 17-1 result again Central Eyre Peninsula.

From there the side went down to North Eastern in a close 10-8, with Anders McShane and Imogen Nienaber best, with the final game a solid 17-1 result over Kangaroo Island, where the side was well represented by Cameron Atkinson and Tess Roberts-Thomson.
