FURNER motorcycle racer Dallas Skeer has continued his good form with an overall win in the Cafnix series on the weekend at Mallala Motorsport Park in South Australia.

Skeer entered the third round of the series with a six point lead in the Limited class, racing up to 700cc bikes on his 250cc Moto3 machine, with plenty of pressure to retain his lead.

In the end he managed a first place and two seconds for the weekend to stretch his margin to nine points.

All three races were held on Saturday, with two 10-minute qualifying sessions.

“I used the first qualifying session as a warm up, then towards the end of the session tried to put in a few fast laps,” Skeer said.

“Unfortunately some slower riders got in my way, so in the second qualifying I made sure I had a clear track.

“I was able to put in a best lap time of 1.16.480, which put me in third, only .608 behind the leader.”

Skeer battled hard in the opening race, with the bigger machinery pulling away down the straights, while his faster cornering speed helped bridge the gap.

On the final lap he managed to pass a rider for third place, then the leader ran wide, handing him second, with a best lap time of 1.15.808.

The second race saw a poor start off the line, but Skeer regained four places in the first two corners.

Once more a battle ensued, with Skeer using his nimble machine to stay in touch at the front, once more moving into third place.

But the second spot on the podium proved a tough proposition.

“I was pushing hard all race and it paid off,” Skeer said.

“I was able to make a move on the last lap under brakes at turn three, but he soon passed me back down the straight.

“Then I was able to stay in his slipstream and make a move under brakes at turn five and hold him off to the finish line to claim second place again.”

The final race saw it all on the line for Skeer, with a win ensuring an overall victory for the meeting.

On the final lap Skeer made his move for the lead at turn three, but was again gobble up down the straight.

“Now the leader knew I was there and he was taking defensive lines in all the corners trying to block me,” he said.

“But he ran wide at turn six and handed the lead over to me and I was able to win the race and the weekend.”

The final race also resulted in another personal best fast lap of 1.15.123.
