Softball: Concordes White breaks victory drought

Concordes White 13 d Wanderers 1

CONCORDES White claimed its first win when it went up against Wanderers in the first twilight game of the season.

The side started in impressive fashion, scoring six runs in the first innings, thanks to a combination of safe hitting and errors in the field.

Concordes was well served by impressive pitching from Sam Brown, who held Wanderers to four hits for the entire game.

Best with the bat for the victors Jo Hopgood with three safe hits, while Hannah Taylor finished with two.

In the end it was a convincing win for the Concordes White team.

Warriors 3 d Demons 0

ON the first Friday night game of the season, Warriors reigned supreme in a tight game against Demons.

The game started off slow with both teams getting three up, three down and both Leynna Bruggemann and Montana Milllard pitching well.

A good game from Raquel Sneath fuelled Warriors’ close win with a cracking hit to centrefield, followed by a tag out play at the home plate with a good throw from Nic Vause.

It was an exciting game from both sides, with solid catches from Warriors’ Emmerson Hann and good out fielding from Mackenzie Millard.

Overall it was a good game from both sides, but the experience of the Warriors side prevailed over the young Demons.

Warriors 7 d Wanderers 2

SATURDAY saw Warriors start its game against Wanderers with a flurry, as it scored all seven of its runs in the first two innings.

Wanderers then picked its fielding and held Warriors scoreless for the rest of the game, but the damage had been done.

Jo Hart gave her all for Wanderers, while Claire Chaplin and Leyna Bruggemann played well for Warriors.

Concordes United 10 d Concordes White 3

IN an all club affair Concordes White faced Concordes United in the late game this round.

United came out firing with bat, scoring six runs in the first two innings, while its White opponents struggled with the bat.

Concordes United continued to score with safe hits to Dana and Codie Jones, Sarah Pilven, Linda Dodds and Eerin Wilson.

The White side finally scored in the last innings, with two runs coming from a double to Sam Brown, but it was too little too late as United ran out comfortable winners.
