SELECTIONS for the governing board of Archery South Australia were held recently and official results were announced this week.

Blue Lake Archers club president Ian Harris was successful in his bid to be elected to the board of Archery SA and has accepted the role of vice president.

Ian Dall is the new president of Archery SA replacing the long serving retiring president Bruce Lang.

Local archery consisted of indoor and outdoor events over the weekend.

Friday night the indoor range was lightly attended but none the less was an intriguing match.

Garry Jacques and Paul Freeman were the only archers present who recorded a score and found themselves in a point for point scrimmage.

The World Archery 18 metre round seen Jacques post an off-the-bow score of 495, Freeman carded just one point less with 494.

As the round was handicap scored once the adjustment margins were added in Freeman had broken through his benchmark and claimed the win for the night.

Sunday seen a bout of hot weather that had the Blue Lake Archers keeping a careful eye on player comfort on the field.

The plan for a 144 arrow round for the day was wisely abandoned in favour of a more sedate 90 arrow Melbourne round.

Peter Austin was on the range after an extended absence and showed excellent accuracy despite his long interval in competition.

Phil Tremelling continued his conversion to a recurve bow and recorded an impressive 715 points off the bow.

Len Bayley and Freeman again found themselves pitted against each other in the clash for top spot.

Freeman built on his effort from the indoor and both he and Bayley were the only archers to exceed the benchmark.

Freeman made it two from two for the weekend when he added the outdoor win to his achievements.

Freeman’s convincing 77 point win over Bayley set the handicap system into overdrive to adjust his margins for next week.
