LSEBA: All one-way – Mount Gambier dominates

Division 1

Mount Gambier Red 93/16 d Naracoorte RSL 42/0

THE Mount Gambier Bowls Club’s Division 1 Red team travelled to face Naracoorte RSL for Round 6 of the Saturday Open Pennant season, where it returned home with a win on all rinks.

Bec Gruar, Bryan Vorwerk, Peter Reppin and skipper Greg Carpenter had a big win over Jon Buckley’s team, posting an impressive winning score of 44-15, which included an eight.

On the second rink, Gary McIntyre, Gary Hocking, Peter Radley and Tony Bowditch had a solid 30-12 win over Steve Mark’s four, while a close game saw Kristy Errock, Terry Bruhn, Brad Errock and Tony Renzi get across the line against David O’Shaughnessy’s side, with a final score of 19-15.

Mount Gambier Blue 91/14 d Millicent 87/2

DIVISION 1 Blue played at home on Saturday, where it hosted Millicent for its first win of the 2017-18 season.

Leanne Henschke, John Hughes, Geoff Collins and Ian Von Stanke had a good game, accounting for Rod Gibbs’ team 36-28.

A win was also had by Jim Butchart, Steve Farrell, Gary Widdison and David Babb, as they prevailed over Iain Campbell’s rink 28-24.

Kym Jones’s four were not as lucky on the day, going down to Terry Barnes 27-35, but in the end it was enough to secure the overall win.

Division 2

Mount Gambier 75/14 d Penola 62/2

MOUNT Gambier’s Division 2 team enjoyed a win at home against Penola on Saturday.

Brian Francis, Paul Kovaleff, Bob Cranwell and Tony Prugo won their match 27-16, while Maria Stabler, Carlo Bertetic, Terry Seiler and Peter Clark also claimed victory, with a score of 29-22.

The third rink on the day went down to Penola, but the margins of the winning games saw Mount Gambier secure the overall honours.

Division 3

Millicent Red 77/14 d Mount Gambier 60/2

THE Division 3 Mount Gambier side went down to Millicent Red on the weekend, with it only able to win one rink for the day.

John Kentish and his team won on their rink, but it was not enough to turn the match to Mount Gambier’s favour.

Division 4

Millicent 63/12 d Mount Gambier 57/4

THE Mount Gambier Bowls Club’s Division 4 team won on two rinks when it took on Millicent in Round 6, but it was unable to claim the overall win.

Both Athol Malseed and Jane Callega won on their rinks, but the margin on the losing rink was enough to hand Millicent the victory.
